Who We Are

Airythmia is a group of volunteer professionals who are dedicated to sharing their love for the sport of Powered Paragliding, and the team’s “mesmerizing” aerial performances are a must-see for anyone who loves aviation, adventure, dancing to music, or celebrating freedom.

Airythmia’s mission is to safely showcase the sport of Powered Paragliding at airshows and events throughout the United States, while positively representing the paramotor community, entertaining people of different backgrounds, and inspiring them to reach new heights. Everything our team does is accomplished with the goal of public outreach in mind, and each member is passionate about supporting the paramotor flying community by sharing their knowledge, helping others earn their wings, and promoting the sport’s sustainable growth.

As a veteran-owned team, Airythmia is a proud partner of Resurgence PPG, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides training scholarships to adaptive capable veterans and worthy warriors to overcome their challenges through adaptive sports participation, transformative life experiences, and fellowship.

Our Team Name- Airythmia

Before learning how to fly, one of the team’s founding members, Todd Scandrett, developed an arrhythmic heart condition that led to his retirement from the Army and prevented him from being medically qualified to fly airplanes. As ultralight vehicles, paramotors do not require an FAA medical certificate to fly, which was a major factor in Todd’s decision to learn how to fly paramotors in 2018—and as fate would have it, Todd had team members Kyle Mooney, Travis Burns, and Jon Eisele as his instructors. During the team’s first training camp, the decision was made to call the team “Airythmia”, both as a testament to the unique ability of paramotors to give so many people access to recreational flight and Todd’s tenacity to overcome life’s challenges.

The Show

Our typical demonstration is less than 10 minutes and features a series of choreographed maneuvers and formation changes set to music; these performances lend themselves well to smaller venues and airshows with a twilight or night show. Depending on the venue and mission, our performances can feature smoke, paramotor-mounted fireworks, or a combination of both. As our LZ is typically located near “show center” and spans the “crowd line”, both the takeoff and landing phases of the flight are major features of each performance. Since we’re able to wear our flying machines like a backpack, we have a unique ability to interact directly with the audience, and our favorite part of each performance is giving high-fives and showing love to the crowd line on the walk back to show center.

At each event we appear at, we set up a booth where people can ask questions about paramotors, grab some stickers, take a selfie in a simulator, or try a paramotor on for themselves. The next time they see a paramotor in the wild, we want their immediate emotional response to be tied to a good memory: “I remember the time I saw one of those at an airshow! They made it look so easy and they were so much fun to talk to! I even got to try one on and it wasn’t as heavy as I thought it would be!”

Past Performances

Airythmia made its debut at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2021.

In 2022, Airythmia began performing at Greenwood Lake Airshow and returned to AirVenture for the Twilight Flight Fest.

The team made its first appearance at Sun ‘n Fun in 2023 followed by performances at the Greenwood Lake Airshow, Rock the Ramp, AirVenture, Wings Over Batavia, and the 117th FAI General Conference.

In 2024, Airythmia debuted aerial fireworks at Sun ‘n Fun’s night airshow, which has become a regular feature of its evening performances. They then continued the year with performances at Greenwood Lake Airshow, AirVenture, and Wings Over Batavia.

We are thrilled to kick off our 2025 season at Sun ‘n Fun to “Turn up the fun for 51!”
